Sanskriti Swaraswati Puja 2010 was celebrated with much enthusiasm and devotion on January 23rd, 2010. Community participation is key to success of Sanskriti events and this year’s Swaraswati Puja was no exception. Your attendance in overwhelming number made the event colorful, joyful, and successful. We hope that all of you had a fulfilling experience in worshiping Ma Swaraswati. We also hope that you enjoyed the food, the cultural program, and above all 'nirbhejal adda' with your friends and acquaintances. It is our firm belief that you also made new friends at this year’s Puja.
Sanskriti wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to all of you who have helped organize this Puja successfully. Thank You so much for dedicating time and effort in helping out in the kitchen, Puja decoration, Puja activities, front desk collection, taking care of the artists, organizing kids competition, performing in the spectacular cultural program, preparing bhog, chatni, doi and naru. Without your help, organizing this successful event for such a large number of devotees would not have been possible.
Dr. Bibhash Bandy as the priest of the occasion performed our Puja with utmost devotion. The Puja was followed by ‘pushpanjali’ and to quote from a member’s email “The indefatigable priest Dr. Bandy deserves accolades for conducting Puja and Anjali on time.” We are very much thankful for his tireless ‘pushpanjali pradan’ at the end of the Puja ceremony. A religious video compilation from Dr. Bandy was a source of joy and inspiration.
This year’s children’s competition generated a lot of excitement and enthusiasm in kids and parents alike. There were more than thirty competitors in recitation and drawing combined and kids were very happy to receive their trophy and certificates on stage from our 2009 Sanskriti President Mrs. Rama Saha. Sincere thanks to all the judges and coordinators of the kid’s competition for making the event both enjoyable and successful.
Cultural program supported by excellent comparer Anik and Neha ran flawlessly and the sound system, thanks to Brian, was very much helpful. Saraswati bandana, a solo dance by Sree Sinha, was very well received by the audience. Outstanding performance came from our local talented kids who presented ‘Biswa Bina Rabe’ well directed by Mrs. Sukla Biswas. Audience was thrilled by reverberating guitar played by Skehar Das, a student of famous Batuk Nandi. Sekhar’s guitar echoed in the auditorium with loud applause from the audience. Evening’s surprise was Koyel Mukherjee. Koyel with her excellent voice enchanted us all. Audience remained spellbound with Chitak’s performance both voice and dance and surpassed all expectations. It was a great evening and to quote from a member’s email “We thoroughly enjoyed. Also noticed that everyone in attendance also had a fantastic time.”
Food occupies a special place in all our events and we strive to provide quality food from qualified vendors. This year’s specialty in snacks was ‘pakora’ which was well received by the food lovers. Cafeteria was filled with content faces after this year’s excellently prepared khichuri, doi, misti, chatni, prasad, and goat meat. Again to quote from a member’s email we received “Your Board and volunteers deserve our sincere appreciation for quality cuisines, good cultural program and above all the smoothness of the entire operation.” We at Sanskriti are very much thankful to you devotees for coming, to you volunteers for helping, to community kids whose laughter and enthusiasm was spreading, to our devoted priest for tirelessly welcoming devotees to pushpanjali, to our vendors who made the events colorful, and to our performers who gave their best to entertain us in the audience. Thank you!
